Dr. Simonsen is a native Long Islander. He has practiced Orthopaedic Surgery in the West Islip and Bay Shore area since 1981. He believes in continual innovation, having done the first closed intramedullary rodding of femoral fractures in the Bay Shore/ West Islip area , as well as the first use of external fixation of open fractures. He was among the first Physicians to do operative arthroscopy in the shoulder, knee, elbow, and ankle in this location. He was also an early proponent of bracing and early rehabilitation of ligament injuries to avoid surgery or prolonged immobilization of the affected joint.
